Express Entry is an online system introduced by the Canadian government in 2015 which is used to process the majority of Canadian immigration applications for skilled and qualified workers who wish to migrate to Canada for a better future. All immigration programs managed under the Express Entry system have different eligibility criteria. The programs are:
Federal Skilled Worker
This program is for skilled workers with foreign work experience who want to immigrate to Canada permanently.
Federal Skilled Trades
The Federal Skilled Trades Program is for skilled workers who want to become permanent residents based on being qualified in a skilled trade.
Canadian Experience Class
The Canadian Experience Class is for skilled workers who have Canadian work experience and want to become permanent residents.
In addition to express entry programs, the provincial governments also select qualified candidates from the pool through their respective Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP) to meet their local labour market shortages
An express entry candidate can stay in the pool for 12 months, if they are not issued an ITA within 12 months, they will be required to create a new profile and enter the pool again.
How Express Entry Works:
Step 1: Potential candidates fill out an online form.
Express entry profiles are created with various details about themselves including their age, language ability, education, work experience, arranged employment, provincial nomination and more. If you are married, use the person with the highest education and language skills as the main applicant.
Step 2: The Government will invite successful candidates and permanent residency will be processed within 6 months.
Highest-ranking candidates are regularly selected from draw and invited to apply for permanent residence. Your Invitation to apply is valid for 60 days only. You should start filling out the online form right away so that you can get all the information and documents you need before your invitation expires.
